David Mansah Andrews was born on May 4, 1944 in Mason River Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies. He was the 7th of nine children born to his parents the late Wilfred and Enid Andrews. His early schooling was at Kellits Primary School in Kellits Clarendon Jamaica.
David’s parents were farmers, and most of his, and his brother's youth were spent next to their father in the fields. Wilfred instilled the value of hard work and independence in his boys.
While farming was their foundation, several of his siblings jumped at the opportunity to travel overseas. In the early 1960’s, brothers Charles, George, John and sister Adivira migrated to the United Kingdom, David saw his future in a different country.
In December 1966 he departed Jamaica to Nassau Bahamas, determined to find a better life other than farming. After spending some time in the Bahamas. David migrated to Toronto Canada where he started his own construction company.

David was not perfect, which none of us are but, he was very kind. The doors of his house were always open to any and everyone who wanted a place to stay or wanted an opportunity to start their life’s journey in Canada. Many have benefited from his generosity. David loved his family, he was always happy when he was visited by his nieces and nephews he often reminded us that “we were his”. David also had a special place in his heart for his mother Enid. He made sure that she was taken care of up until her death.
David has experienced many life’s challenges, but he was never one to complain. He took life in stride.
