Cynthia Diane Thistle

Thistle, Cynthia (nee Standish)
December 7, 1960, Toronto - December 17, 2018, Vaughan

Beloved wife of Steven and devoted mother of Zachary and Jacob. Dear daughter of Lorraine George and Joseph Standish, dear daughter in law of Margo Glass, loving sister of Colleen Madonia (Philip), dear sister in law of Marie Xerri Glass, Susan Gross, Doug Glass (Annette) and Gayle Temple, Loving Aunt of Dylan (Erin), Erin (Ryan), Joel and Katie Madonia and of Nathon and Anton Xerri (Alex) and of Juliana and Jonathon Bolis and of Caitlin and Paul Thistle, Great Aunt of Ethan and Devon Madonia.

Cindy was born and raised in Toronto, the first daughter of Lorraine and Joe and then became a very close sister to Colleen who was born 2 years later. She attended McMurrich P.S, Winona middle school and Oakwood Collegiate. She worked in the family printing business and eventually her husband Steven’s family business (R.E. Thistle Ltd.). Cindy married Steve in 1989 where they lived in the Little Italy neighbourhood before moving to Vaughan.

Cindy’s pride and joy are her two son’s Zachary and Jacob. She has always supported them in their various endeavours and made sure it was known that they are her and Steve’s greatest achievement.

Cindy followed in her mom and sister’s footsteps and joined the Avonlea curling club and then moved to The Thornhill Club. She became increasingly passionate about the sport of curling and went on to join many leagues, chair the Business Women’s section and the invitational bonspiel and convene the Business Women’s league. She was a big supporter of Thornhill members including her sister at competitive events. Cindy’s outgoing and friendly demeanor led to a vibrant social life and many friends at The Thornhill Club but at the same time, Cindy took the time to stay in touch and maintain friendships with many of the people she grew up and went to school with.

Cindy is known for her infectious laugh and big smile and her ability to make everyone feel comfortable, welcome and at ease in her company.

Warm, fun loving, gregarious Cindy will be sorely missed.
