Cynthia Callender

It is with the greatest sadness that we announce the sudden passing in Brampton, ON of our beloved sister, wife and mother, Cynthia Callender, on March 13, 2024. 

She was born Cynthia King to parents Alpheus and Christiana King, September 3, 1948 in Morvant, Trinidad and Tobago. Cynthia worked as a caregiver before immigrating to Canada and studying Practical Nursing. She was committed to her calling, caring for a multitude of patients on 4B Oncology and the Oncology Clinic for 40 years with William Osler Health System. 

She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Michael Callender, daughter Michelle Travers (Scott), grandchildren Evan and Jared, and siblings Eric, Veronica, Wilfred, Marlene, Elma and Annmarie. She is pre-deceased by siblings Althea (twin), Winston and Joseph. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as treasured friends and colleagues. 

Besides being a dedicated Nurse, Cynthia had many special interests, including a love for sewing, decorating and singing. She had a passion for plants and flowers, as her garden was a point of pride every season. She was also an accomplished cook, and had most recently mastered the art of bread making. And those who know her well know she loved a good fashion find!

Cynthia was a funny, kind and caring person, who loved her family and was generous of heart and spirit. She had a unique ability to see the very best in everyone and was certainly loved by whoever she encountered. She truly will be sorely missed.
