Christina Turner

“You might be gone from our sights, but you are never gone from our hearts.”

It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Christina Turner, of Brampton Ontario, on October 31st, 2023, at the age of 79 years.

Christina was born in Waughton Farm, Scotland on June 18th, 1944, to Helen “Neilly” and Peter Neill. Her childhood was full of love and laughter especially the time she spent with her three siblings, Isobel, Marjorie, and Peter.

Christina and Andrew “Craig” Turner were married in July 1964. They immigrated to Canada that same year. Christina had a fondness for darts, becoming quite skilled in the sport. She also enjoyed watching hockey and tennis, spending hours chatting about the player stats with her dear friend Isobelle. Over the years Christina could be found standing on the driveway talking to neighbors or waiting to greet Iain and Clare with their “run away bag”.

During the warmer months she would spend hours in her garden rearranging her collection of gnomes. Memories of Christina driving her mauve Camaro sporting her maroon leather driving gloves, sunbathing with her cat Misty, and debating whether HP sauce requires refrigeration or not will never be forgotten.

Christina cherished time spent with family and friends and although many were “across the pond” they shared an unbreakable bond. Christina’s wit, determination, sense of humour, her beauty, both inside and out and her infectious smile will forever be remembered.

Christina is survived by her spouse, Andrew “Craig” Turner, her sisters Isobel Wichary and Marjory Arthur, and her brother Peter (Helen) Neill; seven nieces and nephews, Ursula Wichary, Karl Wichary, Denise (Terry) Gilhooley, Carol (Peter) Arthur, Sharon (Rob) Elliott, Angela (Keith) March and Peter (Tracy) Neill; and by her 7 grandnieces and grandnephews Robert March, Connor Neill, Callum Neill, Kate Elliot, David Elliot, Ben Gilhooley and Louis Gilhooley who lovingly referred to Christina as his “Canadian Girl”

Also, by her sister in-law Patricia Cannon and nephew Patrick Andrew Cannon.

And by Christina’s “extended” family, Isobelle Leunissen, Clare (Graeme) Hay, Iain (Marlo) Leunissen, Taetum Hay, Hudson Hay, Georgia Leunissen and Jack Leunissen.

Christina is predeceased by her parents Peter and Helen Neill, her brother in-law Karl Wichary, Hamish Arthur and Stewart Cannon, nephew Paul Wichary, and grand niece Claire Forbes.

A private service will be held at the family’s request.
