Celestino Liscio, 90 years of age, from Etobicoke, Ontario, passed away peacefully with his son and daughter by his side on Saturday December 13, 2025 (St. Lucia ).
Celestino Liscio was born on August 20, 1935, in Monteleone, Di Puglia, PR. Foggia, Italy. He arrived in Toronto Ontario (via Halifax Nova Scotia) in 1957.
Celestino was a humble cobbler in Italy and continued his craftsmanship and his love of “making “within various jobs from bread and pastry baker to furniture and cabinetry maker to leather belt manufacturing. He was the definition of “hardworking man “where he loved to work with his hands and find creative ways around a challenging situation. He was our “superhero “, able to take on any task to help his family and friends.
Once retired, Celestino could be found outdoors attending to his vegetable garden, pruning his fruit trees and rose bushes or you could find him in the garage or backyard shed with his vast collection of tools making or fixing something.
Celestino will always be remembered for his selflessness and sacrifice to his family, friends and all those around him. Celestino was blessed with the gift of kindness, laughter, and optimism. Celestino loved to dance all the time and there wasn’t a day he wasn’t wearing one of his many baseball caps, straw hats or traditional fedoras.
Celestino was a dedicated Husband to his wife Filomena where this year they celebrated 68 years of marriage. They were inseparable.
Celestino was also Papa to Carmine and Biasina (Bess) and father-in-law to Julie, Mary and Marcus. Celestino was a loving Nonno to Robert, Maria, Mikaela, Vincent, Olympia and Dean.
Celestino was also “Nonno Chuck “ to Sara, Noah, Mia, Parker , Angelo and Antonio.
Celestino most prized role was being a doting great grandfather to 2-year-old Charlotte and grand-dog-father to Lara, Arlo, Max, Juno, Walnut, Milo, Ritsa and Rex. Celestino was predeceased by his parents Carmine and Lucia and is survived by his six brothers and sisters. Celestino was “everybody’s Nonno” and he wore that “hat “proudly.
Riposa in Pace Papa, Nonno, Bisnonno. Thank you for everything you have done for us. We love you so much and we will miss your signature smile and contagious laughter every day.
