CATHERINE PATRICIA SWARTZ
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Catherine Patricia Swartz on June 22, 2026, at the age of 64, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Catherine was the beloved wife of James Swartz and the devoted mother of Courtlandt and Alexandria, in whom she took immense pride. Born in Toronto in 1962, she lived a life marked by creativity, generosity, determination, and an unwavering commitment to family, friends and community.
Catherine was widely recognized for her exceptional culinary talents, particularly her renowned butter tarts, which earned her the affectionate nickname “The Butter Tart Lady.” In recent years, she achieved success as the author of the My Friend Pink Bear children's book series and fulfilled a lifelong dream by founding A. C. Crown Publishing House Ltd. in 2024.
Her interests and talents were remarkably diverse. Catherine had a deep appreciation for nature and animals and pursued passions that included stonework, photography, modeling, interior and fashion design, education, travel, exploration, and the culinary arts. She worked as a garde-manger chef for over twenty years before operating a professional daycare for nine years. There, she developed an enriching multicultural learning program that introduced children to the history, arts, cuisine, music, and achievements of 27 countries from around the world, reflecting her belief that education should inspire curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
A dedicated volunteer and advocate, Catherine devoted her time to fundraising efforts for a variety of charitable causes. She was also known for her willingness to assist others, whether helping neighbors with home improvement projects, offering practical support, or simply sharing her time and expertise. Her generosity and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Catherine touched the lives of many through her warmth, compassion, and vibrant spirit. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched.
