Catherine Joanne Muldoon

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Catherine Joanne Muldoon, on the evening of February 18, 2026, in Brampton, Ontario, at the age of 82.

Known as Joanne to family and friends, and professionally as Catherine, she was born on November 16, 1943, to Joseph and Anna (née Turcotte) Maloney at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario. She was raised in Burlington alongside her cherished brothers, Douglas, Lawrence, and Michael.

Joanne attended the St. Joseph’s Training School for Nurses in London, Ontario, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed a love of Celtic-inspired traditional Maritime music and dancing. At one of these dances, she met her future husband, Paul, and together they began a life of adventure that took them across Ontario, from London to Nipigon, before eventually settling in Brampton.

Our mother lived a life marked by service, compassion, and love. After raising her young children, she returned to work as a registered nurse. She focused her career in long-term care, where she was beloved by residents and colleagues alike. Joanne was a devoted foodie, an avid reader, and a passionate Blue Jays fan. She cherished late summers spent with family in cottage country and the haunting call of the loon across a Muskoka lake.

She taught us to be both strong and gentle, to serve others with grace, to remain true to ourselves, and to understand the meaning of unconditional love. Joanne will be remembered as a warm, spirited, and independent woman whose generosity touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to share in her life.

Joanne was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Paul John Muldoon, and by her brothers Lawrence and Douglas Maloney.

She is survived by her three children and five grandchildren: Robert Lawrence Muldoon (wife, Tricia) of Brampton, Ontario; Kathleen Marie Muldoon (husband, Seth Dobson) and grandchildren Genevieve, Gideon, and Cormac of Phoenix, Arizona; and Paul Ryan Muldoon (partner, Emma Collier) and grandsons Sullivan and Fletcher of Melton Mowbray, UK. She also leaves many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Family and friends will be received for visitation at Ward Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Brampton on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery in Mississauga. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne’s memory to Rare Dementia Support Canada (https://raredementiasupport.ca/ )
