With love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Caterina Dirracolo on July 13, 2026 at the age of 93.
Born in San Nicola da Crissa, Calabria, Italy, Caterina was the beloved daughter of Giuseppe and Macrina Bellissimo and the daughter-in-law of Giuseppe and Vittoria Dirracolo. She immigrated to Canada in 1956, where she built a life rooted in hard work, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family. Though Canada became her home, she remained proud of her Calabrian heritage and the traditions she lovingly passed on to future generations.
Caterina was the cherished wife of the late Stefano Dirracolo, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Together they built a loving family whose legacy will continue for generations to come.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Vittoria (Alfonso), Macrina, Pina, Joe (Josie) and Ross (Antonella); her grandchildren Jennifer (Domenic), Cathy (Vito), Anthony, Stefanie, Elisa (Christopher), Vince (Danielle), Caterina (Lucas), Stefano (Brittany), Macrina (Michael) and Stefano; and her many great-grandchildren, all of whom adored their Bisnonna. She will forever be held dear in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Family was at the heart of Caterina's life. She expressed her love through steadfast devotion, tireless care, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Strong, resilient, and fiercely devoted to her family, she faced life's challenges with quiet determination. She found joy in preparing meals, tending her garden, and gathering loved ones around the table, where family traditions were celebrated and lasting memories were made.
Our family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Casa Dolce Casa Assisted Living Facility and Villa Leonardo Gambin Long Term Care for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided to our beloved Rini. We are especially grateful to her caregiver, Bruna, whose compassion, dedication, and support brought comfort to Caterina and our family.
If desired, donations may be made in Caterina's memory to Villa Leonardo Gambin Long Term Care.
