Carlos Martinez De La Vega

Peacefully passed away with family by his side at Humber River Hospital on Thursday, October 16, 2025. 

Loving husband of Maggie. Cherished “Nonno” to his children Shanna (Christian), Roy (Lucy); his grandchildren Mathew (Ashley), Alexa and Stefano and great-granddaughter Sophia. Carlos will be fondly remembered by his brother Jose (Luzmi) as well as his other siblings and their families in Ecuador.

Carlos lived a life filled with warmth, laughter and adventure. An avid runner and cyclist, he found immense joy on the open road. His love for chess reflected his thoughtful and strategic nature – and his friendly determination to never be outplayed. 

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (Woodbridge) on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 12:00-2:00 pm, where a memorial gathering will take place.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Humber River Health Foundation would be appreciated in Carlos’ memory.
