Beverly Lynn Wheeler

We are sad to announce that Beverly Lynn Wheeler, 57, of Toronto, Ontario passed away at Humber River Hospital on November 17th, 2025.

Bev was born in Scarborough to Rosie and Elmo Wheeler, lived in Bridletown Circle and finally in Weston.

She loved to dance, loved Reggae music and saw the good in everyone.

She sang at Massey Hall and spent time at Millhaven Maximum Security Prison, but it's not what you think. A hard working member of the Painter's & Trades Allied Union, Bev's career achievements in restoration work and fireproofing were remarkable. She was proud of her contributions to so many of the buildings that each of us visit and pass by each day. These included Toronto's Massey Hall, the Millhaven Institution prison, Hamilton's Juravinski Hospital and McMaster Children's Hospital, the Toronto Sun building and three Eglinton Line TTC stations. We hope these stations eventually open - until then you will have to take us at our word that her work on them was very good!

Bev maintained close lifelong friendships, and visited frequently with her daughter Amanda and grandson Gracyn, whose lives were better for having her.

Bev liked to attend the UrbanArts Centre on Wednesday evenings, to explore different art mediums, like drip painting for example. This was in addition to her lifelong passion for crafting. She made jewelry, candle holders, doll houses and many nick nacks, which she shared generously. Bev also shared meals with community members at the Weston King Neighbourhood Centre.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents Rosie Sterling Wheeler (Freeman), Elmo John Wheeler, her brother Shawn Edward Wheeler, sister Donna Ann Wheeler, and son Jacob Nedbailik.

Bev is survived by her children Amanda Tanner and Tyler Nedbailik, and many nieces, nephews and grands, including Troy Wheeler, Melissa and Paulette Winter, Gracyn, Selena, Dante, Harley, Tylar, Zephyr, Morgan, Ali, Kyle, Andrew and Chris. Our apologies to any grands that weren't named - know that she thought of you often and that you are so very loved.

Bev will always be remembered for her accepting nature. No matter what anyone did in their life - good and bad - Bev welcomed and helped everyone she could. Her heart was open.

It's not goodbye, it's ciao.

Funeral service will be at Ward Funeral Home on Thursday, November 27th at 12 Noon, followed by a viewing in the Chapel at 1:00PM.

A memorial gathering will follow at Weston King Neighbourhood Centre. All are welcome to attend.

Donations are welcome but are not required. We are grateful to receive your attendance.

If you have the means, gifts of flowers are appreciated, as are food donations to the Weston King Neighbourhood Centre.

The family deeply thanks the staff at Humber River Hospital. The nurses, doctors and respiratory therapists gave excellent care to Bev and were very kind to her family and friends, as they kept Bev company. The volunteers went above and beyond to amuse the children, bringing levity that made such a difference in a difficult time. Know that we are very grateful.
