September 17, 1924-August 28, 2012
Passed away peacefully in her 88th year. Predeceased by her loving parents Reginald and Jean Charters and her brother Donald. Loving wife to Michael for almost 65 years. Cherished mother to Anne (Rick) Randell, Michael, Peter(Michele), and David (Rosemary). Beloved grandmother to Josh(Elissa), Emily, Nathan, Trevor, and Matthew(Meaghan). Greatgrandmother to Quentin, Travis, Vivien, Ava and William. Caring sister to Rae (Brenda) Charters and Jane (Garry) Hunter.
Betty’s accomplishments began with graduation from the Atkinson School of Nursing at Toronto Western Hospital in 1946 and continued with service in the Operating Room at Peel Memorial Hospital followed by many years of dedicated volunteer work including Peel Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, both St James the Apostle and Christ Church, and 55 years with the Canadian Red Cross. She was also an honorary member of the Brampton Literary and Travel Club having been a full member since 1968. Betty loved her crossword puzzles, Sudoku, bridge and endless games of cribbage and gin with Mike.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton, on Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 7-9pm. Service will be held Friday at Christ Church Anglican, 4 Elizabeth Street North, Brampton at 11am. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers donation to William Osler Health System Foundation for the Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness would be appreciated.
