Passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025 at the age of 93. Devoted wife of the late Vittorio. Cherished sister of Angela, Domenica and Francesca Paola. Dear Aunt of Mary, Enzo (Maria), Lucie (Peter), Mary, and Nick (Freda). Bernarda will be sadly missed by her many family and friends.

Born in Corleone a small town in Sicily, Italy to parents Salvatore and Maria Antonina. Bernarda came to Canada in 1959 with her family and extended family. The journey was long arriving in Halifax’s Pier 21. From there the family travelled inland and arrived at Union Station.

She was a talented seamstress who spent much of her career working in the Fashion District in downtown Toronto’s Queen and Bathurst area.

Through mutual friends Bernarda met the love of her life Vittorio. In 1979 the couple married and started their lives together. Unfortunately, Vittorio passed away in November 2020.

Bernarda’s faith was strong, which helped her through many difficult times. She found comfort within her church with her many friends to console in.

She enjoyed Bingo and indulging in chocolates (especially Mini Aero Bars) as well as other sweets.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home 4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge (just west of Pine Valley Dr.) on Saturday May 3, 2025 from 10 a.m. till service time at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations to Heart & Stroke would be appreciated.
