Augusto Pernarella

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Augusto Pernarella. Surrounded by the love of his family he passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, in his 97th year. Augusto was born to Ida & Carlo Pernarella in Italy, on September 26, 1926.

He left Italy when he was just a young man travelling to Argentina & Venezuela to work. After a few years he returned to Italy briefly before travelling to Canada. In Canada he married Lucia Serrone. The family was blessed with 2 children Carlo & Carmen. After 6 years in Canada the family returned to Italy where they welcomed their third child Ida. Years later they returned to Canada where they would raise their children & watch their grandchildren grow.

Beloved husband of Lucia. Cherished father of Carlo (Ivana), Carmen (Josephine) & Ida (Joe). Loving grandfather of Davide (Nikki), Austin (Gena), Vanessa, Daniel, Luca & Celina. Proud great grandfather of Gioia & Audrina. He will be lovingly remembered by his extended family.

Augusto was an honest and hardworking man, a bricklayer by trade, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and tending to his garden. His children recall how much he enjoyed sitting under his pergola & caring for his fruits & vegetables. Above all else he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always supported them. He will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved him.

Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home (4671 Hwy 7, Woodbridge) on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Roch’s Church (2889 Islington Ave, North York) on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
