In Loving Memory of Arthur Barbosa Arruda
November 8, 1954 – November 1, 2026
Arthur Barbosa Arruda, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026, in Brampton, Ontario, just one week shy of his 72nd birthday.
Born on November 8, 1954, in São Miguel, Portugal, Arthur carried his roots, values, and love of family with him throughout his life. He will be remembered for his dedication, generous spirit, strong work ethic, and, above all, the love he had for his family.
Arthur was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Helena Arruda, and a proud and loving father to his sons, Mathew and Simon. However, one of his greatest joys in life was being a grandfather to Elias and Aurelia. His grandchildren brought him boundless happiness and gave him a tremendous sense of purpose. He cherished his role as their grandfather, and the love he had for them was immeasurable. They were truly the light of his life.
Arthur was the beloved son of the late Antonio and Irene Arruda, and a dear brother to Vincent and Eida Arruda, who will hold his memory close to their hearts.
Throughout his working years, Arthur was employed as a Lead Hand Butcher with New Zealand Spring Lamb, where he dedicated himself to his work with pride and commitment. Upon retirement, Arthur wasn't quite ready to slow down. He took on a new role as a crossing guard for the City of Brampton, a position that became much more than just a job to him.
Arthur was passionate about keeping the children in his care safe. He saw himself as their guardian, looking out for them as they crossed the road each day. He took great pride in knowing that he was making a difference, not only by helping children get safely to school, but by becoming a familiar and caring presence in their daily lives. It was a role that reflected his protective nature and the kindness he extended to others.
His faith was another important part of his life. Arthur served his church community as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Through this ministry, he shared his faith and gave his time in service to others, reflecting the values that guided him throughout his life.
Arthur's life was defined not by titles or accomplishments, but by the people he loved and the lives he touched. Whether through his devotion to his family, his service to his church, or his daily commitment to protecting the children of his community, he found meaning in caring for others.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, dedication, and kindness. While his absence will be deeply felt, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to honour Arthur's memory by making a donation to a charitable cause that is meaningful and close to their hearts.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
