It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Archibald "Archie" Davidson, who, at the grand age of 88, finally decided it was time to trade his earthly tools for heavenly ones after a lengthy illness. Archie’s journey through life was as electrifying as his career, leaving behind a legacy that sparks joy in all who knew him.

Archie was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Daphne, with whom he shared an extraordinary 62 years of marriage. Their union was a shining example of love, commitment, and mutual respect, punctuated by shared adventures and a lot of laughter. Together, they raised three wonderful children, John (Beth), Dana (Hugh) and Christy who inherited his infectious spirit and zest for life.

He taught them the values of kindness, hard work, and the importance of exploring the world and having a pursuit of lifelong learning. His legacy lives on in them and in his five cherished grandsons, Andrew, James, Josh, Nick and Ajani, who all have his innovative spirit and warm personality.

Archie's love for life, family, and friends was evident in everything he did. He was an accomplished electrician and a man who could fix absolutely anything. Archie was always ready to help anyone in need. He demonstrated leadership by serving his community in numerous ways. He wore many hats in the early days of the Guyanese Canadian Association. He achieved 50 years of membership in the Masonic brotherhood, serving as Past Master of the General Mercer Lodge, No. 548 G.R.C. Being a lodge member was a tradition from Guyana that he continued when he came to Canada. Archie was also a member of the local chapter of the Shriners. In all of his service endeavors, he mentored many and forged lifelong friendships. Archie lived every moment to the fullest. His life was a testament to the power of hard work and camaraderie, and his impact will be felt for generations.

Archie’s smile and laughter were a contagious delight, and we all looked forward to hearing his grand stories about the many places he traveled and the people he met. Archie knew people everywhere and enjoyed his friends immensely. While we will miss him dearly, we find solace in knowing he is at peace now, likely swapping stories, jokes and a good argument with the angels or slapping dominoes down on some heavenly table amongst dear friends who passed before him.

A celebration of Archie's life will be held on Thursday, July 11th at Ward Funeral Home in Woodbridge at 11 a.m., where we will honor the incredible man he was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made to the Canadian Red Cross in Archie's memory.
