Antonio (Tony) Tenuta

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Antonio “Tony” Tenuta on Friday, May 23, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, after enduring great suffering with strength and dignity.

Born in Montalto Uffugo, Cosenza, Italy, Tony immigrated to Canada at the age of 12, building a life rooted in hard work, family, and loyalty. He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Luciana, and his beloved children, Christina, David, and Emma. He leaves behind his cherished mother Annina, his brother Francesco (Frank) and his family, along with many dear relatives and friends.

A dedicated and respected employee at GTAA, Tony took immense pride in his work and considered his colleagues an extension of his family. His old-school work ethic was unwavering-he rarely missed a day and often only took vacation because it was required. He genuinely loved what he did and the people he worked with.

Outside of work, Tony found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He lovingly tended to his vegetable garden every summer and was a passionate supporter of AC Milan, Italian soccer and Ferrari. He was also a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs—even though they often tested his patience, he stuck with them through every disappointment. Known for his kindness, he was always the first to offer a helping hand—often going above and beyond, simply because he cared.

Tony's kindness, modesty, and quiet strength will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations if desired may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
