It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Antonio on September 20, 2011. He had celebrated his 98th birthday a few months ago with family and friends.
His passing leaves a hole in the lives of his wife of 69 years, Vittoria, his daughters, Egle (Jim) and Ilene (Mario) and his grandsons, Zachary and Harrison. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Antonio was born in Corva-Assano Decimo, Italy and is the last surviving member of nine siblings. He came to Canada in 1950 joining three brothers and two sisters. Antonio and Vittoria lived in York and North York for the next 50 years. He took a great deal of pride tending his vegetable garden on Hallsport Crescent and making wine in the garage each fall. He worked for over 40 years at York Marble. They moved to Villa Giardino in Maple in 2001. He said that his 10 years at Villa Giardino were some of the happiest years of his life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Villa Colombo Vaughan for taking care of Antonio during the last months of his life.
Visitation will be at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7 in Woodbridge on Friday, September 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be at St. David’s RC Church in Maple on Saturday, September 24 at 9:30 am followed by interment at Beachwood Cemetery on Jane Street in Concord.
