Anthony Morra, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sunnybrook Hospital on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.
Anthony was born on March 29, 1936, in Monteleone, Puglia, Italy. He worked in his father’s forge and was trained in tool-and-die, until he came to Canada at the age of 15, by himself on the Vulcania, to meet his father in Toronto. He was fluent in both Italian and English. He worked as both a real estate agent and insurance broker, and he served his clients with integrity and devotion for over fifty years. In his early thirties, he met his darling wife and loyal companion, Jessie Morra, with whom he had three children. A kind and compassionate man, he was a lover of God and people, an avid golfer, an inveterate whistler, an admirer of Russian literature, a hockey buff, and an opera enthusiast.
Anthony is preceded in his passing by his wife, Jessie, and his parents, Angelo and Rocchina. He is survived by his three children, Susanne (Philip), Linda (Louis), and Mark (Merkia), and his three grandchildren, Mitchell, Raphael, and Aemilia—all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph (Rosaria), his sister, Carmella, and sister-in-law, Gabriella (Bob).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sunnybrook Hospital.
