With deep love and gratitude, we share the peaceful passing of Angelina Durante on November 18, 2025, at the age of 90. Known affectionately as “Ma”, she leaves behind a legacy of strength, generosity, and a life lived with extraordinary heart.
Born in Italy, Angelina came to Canada as a young woman with remarkable courage, making the journey alone to build a new life for herself and her family. After first settling in Niagara Falls and later in Toronto, she and her beloved husband, Celestino “Mike”, built a home grounded in love, faith, and hard work. Their partnership of more than seventy years was a true testament to loyalty, resilience, and devotion. Together, they created the foundation of a close, loving family that continues to this day.
Angelina was gentle, strong, and endlessly giving. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her care could be felt in every meal she cooked, every garment she sewed, and every small act of love she offered. She was a constant presence in our lives, through holidays, summers at the cottage that are forever woven into our hearts, and every milestone in between. Her presence was a comfort, a reassurance, and a gentle reminder that love and a homemade meal were never far away.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Pat (David) and Paul (Eva); her grandchildren, Andrew (Samantha), Alexander (Rachel), Stephanie, and Michael; and her great-grandchildren, Luca, Victoria, and Sofia. She is predeceased by her brother Dominic (Rose, surviving) and is lovingly remembered by her brother Joe (the late Angela) and her sister Assunta (the late Giovanni). Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her husband, Celestino “Mike”, her partner of a lifetime.
Angelina will be remembered in the meaningful, everyday moments: an Elvis song playing, the smell of Sunday sauce, or the simple instinct to do something the way “Ma always did it”. Her spirit lives on in the traditions she created, the strength she embodied, and the love she shared so freely, continuing to live on through all who knew her.
