It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Amelia Nicoletti (née Muto), who passed away peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Etobicoke General Hospital.
Throughout her final weeks, Amelia demonstrated remarkable strength, grace, and resilience. Her departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family, but they take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband, Gianni, who passed away in 2004; her cherished son, Joe, who passed away in 2021 and her siblings; Francesca, Pietro, Francesco Saverio and two infant sisters.
A Life of Devotion, Courage, & Family
Amelia’s story is one of extraordinary determination, courage, and selflessness. In 1951, she immigrated to Canada on her own—knowing no English and without professional training—to build a better life. She worked tirelessly as a domestic worker for her first two years while continuing to care for the home where she lived. She later worked in a toy factory, always driven by her deep devotion to her family. Through her hard work and sacrifices over the following years, Amelia successfully sponsored her parents, Salvatore and Divina, as well as her four siblings (Isidoro, Francesco Saverio who died in an airplane crash coming to Canada, Emilia, and Joe) to join her in Canada.
Following the tragic loss of her son Joe to COVID-19 in 2021, Amelia’s health deteriorated rapidly, leading to the loss of her speech and mobility. During these difficult final years, her family’s devotion to her remained absolute; her daughter Marisa, and daughter-in-law Rosa ensured she was surrounded by compassionate, round-the-clock 24/7 care, honoring the lifetime of unconditional love and sacrifice Amelia had given to them all.
Surviving Family & Legacy
Amelia’s legacy of love and sacrifice lives on through her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Marisa, and her husband Salvatore; her daughter-in-law, Rosa; her dear brothers, Joe and Isidoro, and her sister, Emilia; her cherished grandchildren, Anthony (and his wife Jessika), Daniella, and Gianpaolo; and her adored great-grandchildren, Aurelio, Jericho, Karis, and Primrose.
