Alexander Vassiliadis
Born in Florina, Macedonia, passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on June 28, 2015 in his 88th year. Predeceased by his loving and faithful wife Helen, Alex leaves behind his devoted children, John (Deb), Sophie Stoneman (Steve), Peter (Lori). Much loved Popu of Alexander Wm. (Danae), Adrienne Pawlak (Sebastian), Craig Stoneman (Erin), Monika Fiorini (Matthew), Alana, Leah, Danae, and Great Popu of Ella, Lauren, Mikhayla, Aliyas, Maya and Emerson. Alex is fondly remembered by his two sisters-in-law Sia and Toula and many nephews and nieces. Alex served as a police officer in Greece, where he met his wife while walking the beat in Kastoria. Alex and his wife Helen, moved to Canada in 1953 from Greece, where he worked hard and dedicated much of his early years assisting extended family while raising his own and being the proud owner of the VIP nightclub and lounge.
Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Road (North of Lawrence Ave. W.) Weston, on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. A funeral will be held at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1 Brookhaven Dr., Toronto on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Toronto. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society would be appreciated.
