It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Bonanno who passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on January 1, 1928, to Filippo & Carmela Di Marco. Beloved wife of the late Ignazio Bonanno married for 60 years. Beloved mother of Vincenza a.k.a. Mary (Luigi), Giovanni (Penny-Lynn), Carmelina a.k.a. Emily (Robert) & Anna. Devoted grandmother to Gabriella (Gino), Jimmy (Christina), Luigi (Lauren), Justin, Breanna, Lauren, Michael & Vienna Rose. Proud great grandmother Christian, Matthew, Alyssa, Gabriel, Juliana & Daniel. Maria will be lovingly remembered by her dear sister Pina. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews.

Maria’s greatest passion was her dedication to her family. She and her beloved husband Ignazio were the owners of a grocery store where she worked tirelessly. Anyone who knew her was touched by her tender kindness, infectiously happy personality, and caring nature. She will always be remembered singing Sicilian songs with her beautiful voice, often being compared to a nightingale.

Our grief over losing Maria is infinite, and our loving memory of her will always remain in our hearts.
Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church located at 100 Bainbridge Ave, Woodbridge. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Toronto General Hospital Peter Munk Cardiac Centre.
