WALTER JOHN THOMPSON OCTOBER 19, 1922 - FEBRUARY 25, 2014

With sadness we announce that John Thompson of Etobicoke, former employee of IBM, died Tuesday February 25th at Humber River Hospital after a short illness.

John was blessed with a long, full and active life. He came of age during the Depression and while he grew up knowing hardship, he never let it dim his naturally bright spirits. Gifted with a mechanical skill that allowed him to fix just about anything, his quick wit and ability to spin a great story endeared him to all.

Always close to his heart were his much loved wives: Mary Davidson Thompson (deceased) and Fern Cooke Thompson (d. 2000), as well as his beloved partner Elva Ruth Williams (d. 2012).

Throughout his life John was sustained by his Christian faith, and in recent years by the fellowship of Westway United Church where a celebration of his life will be held Saturday March 8th, 2014 at 11am. Visitation at the church 8 Templar Drive, Toronto from 10am.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel 416-241-4618. Please visit a Book of Memories at www.wardfuneralhome.ca
