Ivy Kellam

Recently, on December 28, 2022, our Mom and Grandma passed away in Brampton, ON. Ivy Kellam (nee Livermore) was born on December 11,1921 in Lancaster, U.K., the only daughter of Frederick Livermore and Rachel McKenzie. Until the last couple of years, she was engaged and active in the world around her and always willing to share her experiences and knowledge.
She leaves behind – Sons, David (Ruth Kellam) and Douglas (Karen Shadd) and Daughter, Jeanne Bank. She will be deeply missed by her three grandchildren, Darryl Bank (Liz Cook), Leslie Bank (Devan Vanden Boomen) and Laura Kellam (Carter Kinaschuk). She was fortunate to be able to welcome four great grandchildren in recent years – Frances, Edie, Elliott, and Clara.
At the end of WW ll, she met Carman (Kelly) Kellam and took the huge step of becoming a war bride, arriving in Canada in September 1946. They initially settled in Stratford, ON where she became a happy mother in 1947. The young family moved to Kelly’s hometown of Brampton in 1952.
A committed mother and devoted grandmother, she was also active in community activities and worked at the Brampton Public Library for ten years. Ivy was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, taught Sunday school and was a loyal member of the Hospital Auxiliary.
Ivy loved the land she was born in and the land she adopted. Her greatest joy was spending time at the family cottage on the Bruce Peninsula. It was a place where she could enjoy the company of friends, children, and grandchildren, and all the birds and wildflowers. When Kelly retired in 1974, they regularly travelled to her beloved England and to Florida.

A special thanks to all the staff of Greenway Retirement Residence in Brampton, ON who have provided wonderful care, especially during the last two years when family have been unable to visit regularly due to COVID-19.

Private cremation to follow. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Ward Funeral Home 52 Main Street South Brampton on Sturday June 10 at 1:30 pm,

Donations would be gratefully accepted in Mom’s name in keeping with her love of nature, to the Nature Conservancy of Canada and in honour of her granddaughter, Leslie Bank to Diabetes Canada.
